Abstract The light transmission and heat retaining property of special film for pepper by adding the light conversion agent and red master batch and their effects on the growth, quality and yield of red pepper were studied with the cultivar ‘Kaitlin’ as test material. As the results, compared with anti-fog EVA film, the heat retaining property were increased and the growth and yield per mu of red pepper were also improved by using the special film. Moreover, the fruit coloring was advanced under the special film compared with the control, and the content of Vc, sugar-acid ratio and anthocyanin in fruit were significantly improved as well. In a word, special film for pepper was more conducive to improve the comprehensive quality of red pepper.
